FAQ's
Why Sarbu Apple Cider Vinegar?
Sarbu Apple Cider Vinegar is a raw, unfiltered vinegar made by naturally fermenting fresh apples. It contains the natural “Mother” and comes in one size, 500 ml.
What does "With the Mother" mean?
The Mother is a cloudy, thread-like mix of beneficial bacteria, yeast and enzymes that forms naturally during fermentation. Its presence shows the vinegar hasn’t been over-processed.
Why is there sediment or cloudiness in my bottle?
That is the Mother, and it is natural. Cloudiness, strands or settled sediment mean the vinegar is raw and unfiltered. Shake the bottle well before use.
What does "raw and unfiltered" mean?
Raw means the vinegar isn’t heavily processed. Unfiltered means we don’t strain out the Mother, so it stays in the bottle.
How is Sarbu Apple Cider Vinegar made?
Fresh apple juice is fermented naturally, first into a mild alcohol and then into acetic acid. We add no shortcuts or additives, only time, apples, and tradition.
What is the acidity level?
The acidity is 5%, as stated on the label. This is standard for food-grade apple cider vinegar.
What does "Original" on the label mean?
It is our core recipe, made with 100% natural apple juice and nothing else added.
Does Sarbu come in other sizes or flavours?
Not at the moment. We offer one product, Sarbu Apple Cider Vinegar Original, in a 500 ml bottle.
How is Sarbu different from regular vinegar?
Regular vinegar is often filtered, clarified or made from synthetic acetic acid. Sarbu is made from fermented apples, is not filtered, and retains the Mother.
Where is Sarbu made and who markets it?
Just one: 100% apple juice, fermented to 5% acidity.
Does it contain preservatives, colours or artificial additives?
No. There are no additives and no preservatives.
Is Sarbu vegetarian?
Yes. It carries the green vegetarian mark on the label.
Is it vegan?
The only ingredient is apple juice, so it is plant-based.
Is it gluten-free?
Apple juice contains no gluten, and we add no gluten-containing ingredients. If you have coeliac disease or a severe allergy, please check with our care team at care@applecider.in.
Does it contain sugar?
No sugar is added. Per 15 ml serving, the label shows 0 g added sugar, 0.16 g total sugar and 0.24 g carbohydrate, all naturally from apples.
How many calories are in one serving?
About 0.97 kcal per 15 ml (1 tablespoon).
Is it FSSAI approved?
Yes. Our FSSAI licence number is 10021026000037, printed on the label.
What are the traditional benefits of apple cider vinegar?
People have long used it as part of a healthy routine, mostly to support digestion and as a low-calorie way to add flavour to food. Individual results vary.
Does it help with weight loss?
No product can guarantee weight loss. Some small studies suggest vinegar may help you feel fuller, but it works only alongside a balanced diet and regular activity.
Does it support digestion?
Many people take it before meals as part of their routine. Experiences vary, and it is not a treatment for any digestive condition.
Can it help control blood sugar?
Some research suggests vinegar taken with meals may affect post-meal blood sugar. It is not a substitute for medical treatment. If you have diabetes or take diabetes medication, please talk to your doctor first.
Is it good for skin and hair?
Some people use diluted vinegar in their beauty routines, but we don’t make any claims for topical use. Never apply it undiluted to skin, and patch-test first.
What vitamins and minerals does it contain?
Per 15 ml serving, the label lists vitamin C (1.44 mg), calcium (0.48 mg) and iron (0.07 mg). These are small amounts, so don’t rely on it as a source of nutrients.
Does the Mother have probiotics?
The Mother is a live culture of bacteria and enzymes. It is not a substitute for a clinically tested probiotic product.
Is it safe to consume daily?
In moderate amounts (1–2 teaspoons, diluted, once daily as per our usage guidance), it is generally considered safe for most healthy adults. Do not exceed the suggested amount.
Who should avoid or be careful with apple cider vinegar?
Speak to your doctor first if you have acid reflux or GERD, gastritis or ulcers, kidney problems or low potassium. The same goes if you take diabetes medicines, diuretics or heart medication, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Children should not take it without a paediatrician’s advice.
Can it damage my teeth?
Like all acidic foods, undiluted vinegar can wear down tooth enamel over time. Always dilute it, drink it through a straw if you like, and rinse your mouth with plain water afterwards.
How do I consume Sarbu Apple Cider Vinegar?
Mix 1–2 teaspoons in a glass of warm water. Drink it once daily, preferably before meals.
Can I drink it without diluting?
No. Undiluted vinegar can irritate your throat, stomach and teeth. Always dilute it.
What is the best time to take it?
The label suggests once daily, preferably before meals. Choose a time you can stick to.
Should I use warm, cold or room-temperature water?
The label recommends warm water. You can also use room-temperature water, but avoid boiling water.
Can I add honey, lemon or other ingredients?
Yes, many people add a little lemon or honey for taste. Keep in mind that honey adds sugar and calories.
Can I use it in cooking and salad dressings?
Yes. It works well in dressings, marinades, chutneys, pickles, sauces and dips.
Can I use it for cleaning or as a hair rinse?
Sarbu is made and sold as a food product. We recommend using it for food and drink only.
Do I need to shake the bottle before use?
Yes, always. Shaking spreads the Mother evenly through the vinegar.
Can I take it on an empty stomach?
The label says preferably before meals. If you have a sensitive stomach, take it diluted with food or ask your doctor.
How long before I see results?
Results vary from person to person, and we don’t promise specific outcomes. Consistent, moderate use alongside a healthy lifestyle is the best approach.
Can children or elderly people take it?
We recommend checking with a doctor or paediatrician first, especially for children, older adults and anyone on regular medication.
Can I take it with my regular medicines?
Vinegar may interact with certain medications. Please check with your doctor first.
How should I store the bottle?
Store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, and keep the cap tightly closed.
Do I need to refrigerate it?
It’s optional. The label says you may refrigerate after opening, but it isn’t required.
What is the shelf life?
Best before 12 months from the manufacturing date. The date is printed on the bottle.
Where do I find the batch number, MRP and manufacturing date?
They are printed in the box on the bottle label (NET WEIGHT, M.R.P., USP, BATCH NO. and PKD).
The Mother looks like a jelly blob or strands. Is it spoiled?
No. A gelatinous, cobweb-like Mother is normal and harmless. It is part of a naturally fermented vinegar. If you notice a foul smell, mould on the surface or a change you’re unsure about, contact our care team.
